there's a rose called 'schoolgirl', you could plant a few of those in a nice spot in your garden as a surprise for when she comes home.

Find her another job!
Or buy her a sectional concrete garage to assemble, that will keep her occupied.

It also depends on how much you would want to spend!
If she's turned 60 it equates to diamond! My Mum collected Swarovski crystal, it was more enjoyable than going to the expense of diamonds. They used to have a teacher related model, but I don't know if they still do it.
How about a nice spa/health club weekend, for a bit of pampering for both of you?

You could always buy a little owl ornament - with a mortar board if possible - they are the elmblem of teachers, and when my wife left her Headship, she really enjoyed receiving these little reminders of her time at the chalk face.

The retirement gift I enjoyed the most was a years subscription to The National Trust. Don't forget if you do buy it to get a joint subscription. Mr M and I have had some wonderful visits all over the country and it's something you can do together.

Thank you all for your suggestions folks. Unfortunately we already have a garage topogigio. She's heavy into golf and is unfortunately better than me.

Tell her to take it easy and do it with a look of self satisfaction on her face that i am sure she deserves.
