because they have better politicians?
|
|
|
Because they are subsidised by the English, they also don't pay car parking fees in hospitals.

so who pays for the drugs?
|
|
|
Because the budget is managed by the Welsh Assembly and not at Westminster, the subsidy idea is nonsense. Anyone who lives in Wales is entitled to free prescriptions, including the 20% the population who are English.

The English. I am not exactly sure how it all works though.

Im not welsh but live in wales, we do have to pay for parking at hospitals, even the staff do!!

Have Scotland got their free prescriptions yet? I remember hearing they were going to get them but not when.
Of course the English are paying for the Welsh prescriptions RAGGY ROMAN,do you have the funding from central government or not? I think you'll find the answer to that is a big fat YES!

Thats not true, parking fees will be abolished like in england 2011. Also they are not subsidides by the English as it's just a matter of having Am's in the assembly who have shifted budgets to accomodate this!
Not sure how it all works either, but I know it was discussed at the time by the AM's!

It was all over the news recently that parking at hospitals was now(or about to be) free in Wales, why did they announce that if it wasn't true? It wasn't just the gutter press either,it was on BBC news.

Also, the poupulation of England is greater than the Welsh, so if we all pay the same taxes and NI, who's subsidising who????? (but thats another argumant!)
I have more of a problem with those who 'don't' work that my taxes go towards paying for!!!!!!!!

Oh dear, what have I started
|
|
|
Scottish prescription charges were lowered to £5 with a view to eventually scrapping them.

So daffy654 is saying all central government funds are collected from the English - when did Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish citizens stop paying taxes?

Most hospitals have contracted out their parking fee system to private companies. Their contracts have to expire first. My borough will end in 2011, neighboring ones will be rolling it out by 2011.
My nighbour is a midwife at sevral hosps and has to pay when she is in work!

I don't work but your taxes don't pay for me in any way,I am supported by my fiance who does work and also pays tax and NI.
I am leaving this thread now before an argument starts.I have no problem with the Welsh btw before anyone lumps me in with others on this site who do! In fact I think Wales is a beautiful country,I just can't visit because its too bloody hilly.:-) My fiance would have the muscles of Hulk Hogan if he tried to wheel me around in my wheelchair there.lol

Kempie.......i've just said I don't want an argument but if you want to go down that route.......lets all survive solely on the tax contributions from our own citizens shall we?

By all means. Im pretty sure Scotland would love the revenue from North Sea gas and oil.
