Hey hjshjs,

I do hatha yoga which is fairly slow and very relaxing. To the point where I have a tendancy to nod off during relaxation, on a hard floor with 15 or so people I hardly know! Pretty good when I have a hard time getting to sleep in my own bed.

Find yourself a proper instructor in your area:

I know that if I actually manage to do it daily I will feel a lot better but not quite managing every day yet!

Good luck

I'm with banjo on this one - hatha yoga is the most chilled, and the most common one at local sessions. It usually ends in a chill-out meditation session, which will have you feeling relaxed very quickly. Best bet is to speak to the teacher before you go - they will be able to tell you whether their class will cater for your needs.

I've also been to several different Pilates classes in recent years and my current one includes a relaxation session at the end cos the teacher is also a yoga teacher.

Hope you find the relaxation you're looking for! And remember that a bit of gentle exercise, irrespective of the type, is always going to help you beat stress. x
i also agree 100% with banjo, hatha yoga is very relaxing.
Find yourself a proper qualified instructor. Adult education may be able to advise you.
Hi hjshjs
Yoga can certainly help you - I have practised it for 34 years and taught it for nearly 30.
Traditional hatha yoga is your best bet where there may be breathing exercises to calm, possibly a short meditation (all teachers vary) and a relaxation at the end.
The stretches that are done help to relieve tension in the body. The whole is a complete treatment for mind body and spirit (I'm biased!).
I often get people in my classes who forward thinking GPs have recommended to try Yoga for anxiety. Good luck!
