Probiotic drinks.

Do probiotic drinks like Yakult, Actimel, Muller Vitality, etc., really make you feel better? And if so - are any better than the others (by results or taste!) or are they all pretty much the same?

I drank Actimel for weeks, didn't feel any change what so ever.
I use actimel when my IBS plays up, it really does seem to help calm it, also I use it on the rare occasions when i need antibiotics as if I don't, they tend to give me an upset tum.
I've used Actimel on and off for about three months and (like woofgang) it does seem to have improved my IBS symptoms, although I've yet to find myself leaping around madly like the girl in the ad!! I haven't tasted any of the other brands. The only way I can describe the taste, is that it's slightly like evaporated milk.
I can never understany why their marketing companies can't come up with better names. Vitality is passable but Yakult and Actimel don't sound very appetising.
Not really, as soon as they reach the stomach, the acid in your stomach kills all the live stuff thats meant to be in it. But with good marketing, people will believe anything which is how they sell!
I was drinking actimel for months and didn't feel any different, just more expense on your weekly shopping bill!

Thanks for your replies. Actimel certainly seems popular! I tried the Vitality (tastes just like a thin strawberry yoghurt) and I think it did aid my digestion a bit. I think if you already have a healthy balance of bacteria then you're not going to see much of a difference.
some of them contain lacidophilus but you can save yourself a fortune go to a health shop buy 90 capsules for about 6 squid one a day = 3 months worth /
I've started drinking actimel after getting food poisoning, i feel it's helping but can't really prove this. In answer to 5029 point about actimel being 'digested' before it does anygood, according to actimel it 'resists digestive action' but how effective this is, who knows (does anyone know if Yakult is any better in this regard?).
