Been told by my optician I have dry eyes - they are always red, tired and sore. He gave me some herbal eye drops but they seem to sting a bit. Can you recommend any eye drops which would help? Many thanks.

I use Allergen onces which i find brilliant, especially for contact lense wearers (they do special ones).
I also tend to try and make sure i relax my eyes regularly too, i've got one of those great eye masks you put in the freezer and that can help too, i just put in some eye drops, put some nice cooling eye gel on round my eyes (keep it int he fridge too so it's nice and cool) and lie back with my eyes closed and the eye mask on..bliss!

Do you think other thinks are contributing such as aircon or other suroundings, makeup etc...?
my partnerseb has the sameproblem he uses optrex eyedrops the green box you an also get the eye wash and pads.

Could be an allergy, I am always affected by air conditioning and get nasty coughs for weeks on end which eventually go. Wish I could look wide awake and bright eyed !
I have a similar problem with dry eyes. My optician recommended Hypromellose eye drops (false tears) and they've really helped. You can get them over the counter at the chemists.
I used to need eye drops now and then, the more I needed them, the more they stinged when I put them in. I used Eye Dew from my local chemist and they worked a treat.
stung even!
you need hypromellose drops as heffalump says. I work in a pharmacy and thats what we would sell for dry eyes.
