Football

Okay, I went to Sport section and I got scared so I came back here. I know nothing about football or the World cup, but I would like to know when it starts, and when our important games are on so I can try and watch the good ones.

Any ideas??

Hi Scarlett,

Go to the BBC site. That'll tell you all you need to know! The World Cup starts today, but England's first game is tomorrow at 2pm.

Lol Scarlett. Don't be scared. Come and have a look at the World Cup section and if your feeling brave ask a question. It doesn't matter how silly it may sound we have plenty of regulars in there already who do that! :o)

1. It starts today and (more importantly) finishes on July 9th

2. There is no such thing as an "important" football match for England or anybody else.

3. In any match of 90 minutes duration you might, just might, see 5 minutes of what could loosely pass as "excitement". International football (especially lengthy competitions like the World Cup) is notorious for producing a high number of low calibre matches. To try to forecast which, if any, of the 64 planned will be "good" is difficult to say the least.

4. Professional football is a tedious game with an unusually high preponderance of cheats amongst its participants.

The best idea is to avoid all this nonsense entirely.

I have single-handedly just doomed England to early failure in the World Cup.

An England flag blew off the car in front of me and my car ran it over. A bad omen perhaps ??
