I started taking Ramipril tablets for HBP about 9 months ago, and everything was fine. However, about a month ago, I started with this silly tickly cough that happens fairly persistantly. People tell me that a classic side-effect of Ramipril is coughing, but I wondered if anyone had experienced this kind of thing after being on tablets successfully for the past eight months? Thankyou

Yes, my mother did and it was about a year later. She got so sick of it she changed tablets.
Was prescribed Ramipril 2.5mg in January 2006 after an angioplasty procedure. The Ramipril was to control BP and was successful - my BP at age 58 = 120/73 on average. I did have a dry tickly cough originally but this gradually diminished. However in mid-July 2006 I started to develop a very dry tickly cough which got so bad I went to my GP. She said it was a classic symptom of taking Ramipril and other Ace Inhibitors. She put me on Aprovel 75mg instead. I started them yesterday so will re-post on this site with the developments.
