If anybody is interested in this then tomorrow nights episode - The Murder of Tia Sharp: 5 Years On - is where I live. It's actually just round the corner to me.
I remember it clearly when she went missing. All the neighbours (and me) were looking everywhere, handing out flyers, our road and in fact the whole town was invaded by the press, and there were police everywhere.
The day her body was found , I was on a tram as I had to nip into town, and everyone was still worried sick that she hadn't turned up. Then someone who was reading the news on their phone just stood up and said - "they've found her body in the loft". Everyone started crying - it was so surreal.

Not sure I can watch it Smow. Very sad. It must have been terribly shocking for you all.

It was horrific. The last sighting of her was in our Co-op, which is about 500 metres from my house. What made it worse was the step dad actually went live on camera appealing for info when he knew he had killed her and stuffed her in the loft. The house became such a gruesome attraction to morbid people that they had to demolish it.
i dont remember it = what was the motive?
It was an awful case - did you know the family Smow?

I recall Tia's Mother and Grandmother were in the News again last year, too.
Question Author
That's it Mamya. She'd been sexually abused and not sure whether he panicked or she started screaming ,but he killed her. He has always refused to say how. Afterwards they found lots of photos of her on his phone. I knew the family to walk past etc and nod hello but never actually spoke to theme
The step grandfather (I think that is how he was described) was/is a very nasty piece of work ... but the police search finding nothing for days when she was there all the time is utter madness......
Question Author
Yes sorry you're right- it was step grandfather. The police had even searched the loft once already!
On 10 August, a body was discovered in a black bed sheet in a black bag in the loft of the home of Sharp's grandmother, after police searched it for the fourth time.
Question Author
Yes that's right, how could they not have found her before??
^ similar case in my home town. Body not found despite the house being searched 3 times. It was only when a neighbour told the police there was a disused well under the garage that they finally found the body in the well.
Question Author
Good grief. Beggars belief!
Sort of reminds me of this ( although the bodies had been found ).
This piece of low life scum literally lived over the road from the local ( Green Lane, Walsall ) police station.

^ In this case the offender had put a concrete floor in the garage to hide the well. Unless the neighbour had known the well was there the body would never have been found. It would have gone down as a missing person not a murder.
Question Author
The depravity of some people still shocks me : (
^ The guy did it purely for the cash,he would have got the house worth £2 million and another £3.5 million she had in the bank. He was claiming she had just walked out on him after an argument.
Question Author
I cannot comprehend how people can do these things, I really can't.
-- answer removed --
The guy had done the whole Tearful TV interview bit where he pleaded for her to get in touch, all the while knowing she was down the well with a concrete lid on top! There was a TV program about psychopaths the other day, one characteristic is that they lack the normal sense of sympathy and guilt. I am sure this guy was one!
They aren't wired for empathy, Smow. They don't recognise a problem.
