Try T-Gel - works really well (it has coal tar in it) and won't cause any harm to your scalp. Wouldn't wash your hair every day, though, as that could be making it worse.

many thanks, will give that a try.
T-Gel will do the trick, but it is quite expensive and pungent. Once it has done the job, switch to a medicated shampoo such as Head and Shoulders. You can keep the T-Gel in reserve for when needed.
It depends what is causing it.

I would see your GP and get checked that you don't have eczema or psoriasis, or it may be a simple infection which will respond to antibiotic cream which your doctor can prescribe for you.
