Duodenum Growth

Over the weekend, my partner was diagnosed with two stomach ulcers. While they were investigating, they also noticed an (apparently related) growth on his duodenum, which they biopsied via endoscope today and he will have results friday.

He has tested negative for H. Pylori. As far as the doctors are able to ascertain, these ulcers were entirely stress-induced. Unfortunately, they have also been unnoticed and untreated for several months, which had led them to believe the duodenum growth could be something nasty.

Obviously we are waiting for results, which none of you have access to. But for those of you with a more medical bent, are you able to offer an opinion on the chances that this is something serious? If so, is there a chance this could be life-threatening?

I have no knowledge to pass on to you (despite my silly avatar) however I do know the days spent waiting for the results will feel long.

Take care both of you and report back when you know.x

I'm sure someone more wise will be along soon.
I can't answer you're question but, best wishes for Friday .

Thanks.

I won't lie, I am vainly seeking reassurance where I know there's not really much ABers can say. Fortunately he's receiving his test results very soon, so we won't need to wait long.
We all reach out at times like this and hope for reassurance, it's natural.
can’t answer but i will pray
Kromo.....the "duodenal growth"....cancer of the duodenum is rare, so the odds are with your partner. Not impossible to be malignant, but rare.
Fingers crossed.

Thanks very much everyone.

I will keep you all posted on the results.
wishing mr Krom all the best xx
I've probably only seen two duodenal malignancies in all my time in Oncology. Very unlikely this is a sinister finding.

Am interested in your op as I asked similar but my thread was derailed. My son still suffering, in spite of completing medication.

Tambo.....is that post directed at me? If so, yes it was derailed but here are my further thoughts.
If your son is still getting symptoms, then it may be that the antibiotic is of the wrong type and the organism is becoming resistant. You do not tell me what antibiotic combination hes is having.

Apologies Kromo.
Not you derailing sqad. Soz Kromo, hope your wife recovers soon.
Best wishes to your wife, Kromo..... I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's good news, when results are known.

Be strong, as must be affecting you too, and take care.
Kromo referred to his partner as "he", by the way.
Jim.....in our modern times, "He" could still be his wife......couldn't he?

I get confused.
Thanks Jim....

Apologies, Kromo.....Best wishes to your partner.
Gender pronouns can get people tied up in knots for sure, not always fairly. But in this case previous posts by kromo put things in context. And anyway, no -- a "wife" is a woman by gender (if not by biological sex), and the gender-neutral descriptions are "spouse" or "partner" (as kromo used here).

But now we really are derailing the thread. Or I am.
Jim....;-)

Partner just called - the growth was scar tissue from another ulcer which had healed over.

He is on meds that are making him feel much better, but has been warned to expect discomfort in future as his existing ulcers feel. But if he sticks to a decent diet, takes his meds, and tries not to get too stressed, he will be able to recover.

Thank you everyone for your reassurances and support!
Oh that is reassuring, you'll both be very relieved, take care.x
