Depends on the type...."permanent" markers will need a solvent to remove the stain...alcohol, iso-propyl alcohol (as in de-icer) etc, whereas water-based non-permanent ink should wash out in warm water.
....methylated spirit would be a suitable solvent for permanent ink - it being mainly alcohol.
Question Author
I think its permanent marker as it didn't come out in the wash. Can I use just plain alcohol?
Question Author
Thanks both
Use pure alcohol then after an hour suck the polo shirt. LOL

Ron I like your style

I'll probably pass out inhaling it!
Spray WD40 directly on to the stain, both sides and leave for 10 mins and then wash the polo shirt in the machine as you would normally do at 40 degrees. Worked for me last year after pen leaked on to shirt.
Question Author
I've got some WD40 somewhere in my house. Can't remember where though.
As they're white polo shirts, why not use a drop of neat bleach?
