I've just bought a second hand ford 2004 and it has only 1 key. Does anyone know the best way to get another one cut and a rough idea of the cost please

Most supermarkets have a key cut franchise - a standard non plip key is about £6-8 - a plip key about £50 but you would need to go to the dealer for that
Try Timpsons...we have one in our local Tesco Superstore.
It's not the key profile that's the problem, it's the little immobilizer chip inside the fob.
On my old car I took the little chip out of the fob and glued it under the plastic by the ignition switch, then any key cut would start the car... shhh, don't tell anyone.
