Cortisone creams are the only things that help me.
Suffered eczema since I was young.
Tried everything on offer, including immune system suppressants, nothing really works but cortisone creams help keep the eczema under control.
I feel for you cupotee, I had hand, elbow and back of knee eczema as a child and it was very sore. I always used Aqueous cream daily so it's interesting to see the findings now of it actually aggravating the problem (thanks for the link)
When I had it the most calming remedy for me was an e45 bath, and it was alleviated further by drinking a good amount of water daily, but unfortunately I can't offer further advice other than that.
However, there is an eczema organisation which may be able to answer some of your queries:

I remember a young man had eczema, he tried all the usual creams. The minute he gave up smoking, it improved drastically! Don't know if you smoke?...
Dairy products can aggravate it, but like ozzy says... hydrocortisone, betnovate cream
