I've just received my repeat prescription for the above medication & normally they are oval shape in a push out foil packet. I take one a day for allergic rhinitis. The tablets I have been given this time are round & are imprinted with a capital A on one side & a score line on the other side. I am naturally concerned these pills are what they should be as I know drugs can differ from one manufacturer to another but in all the years I've been taking them they have always been in a packet & oval. These are loose in a bottle. I have done a search for shapes/markings for these tablets but none of them show this marking. I am away from home at the moment & can't get back to the pharmacy to ask. Can anyone advise please? thank you.

as long as the pills have been checked twice by the pharmacy they will be ok. the pharmacists will have decanted the pills into the bottle but the original packet will also have been present at the time of dispensing and checking (usually put together in a little basket for this purpose). sometimes pills do not have identifiable marks on them and are plain, but pharmacies should have a dispenser and a second person (normally a pharmacist) checking this process thoroughly. i think you are worrying too much! look for the two sections on the label where each person checking has signed their initials - this is the minimum requirement for dispensing medication and as long as they are there this should be fine.

thanks for your reply
I have had this with another drug. Exactly the same drug, entirely different appearance. I questioned it and was assured (as per Icg reply) that there is a very stringent checking process and the same drug can come from different distributors which explains the appearance.
My initial response would be, don't worry.
I regularly take erythromycin. Erythro means red. Occasionally they are orange and once they were white. I checked and all was fine.

Thanks peeps for your reassuring replies
I work in a pharmacy where I have to record shapes, colours and codes of tablets/capsules for patients who have medication trays . There are two brands cetirizine that I have come across that are round. One has the letter C and the other has a capital A.
