Got home yesterday after my hip replacement. Everything is going well, bit like Bambi on ice with the crutches! Not getting on too well with the crossword this morning the the anaesthetic has got into what little brain I had left. Onwards and upwards from now on.

Thank you all for the good wishes. Must say I have had excellent treatment from the NHS, I got in on a cancellation so have only waited 5 weeks! Have had to rent a 'granny' chair as our are too low so I feel like a little old dear. Never mind I'll be leaping about like a good un in no time, just glad it's over and done with xx

I have had both hips replaced, Margo, and my best advice is to do exactly as you are told by your physio! 6 weeks after my first one I walked a mile!

I'm certain you'll make a very good recovery too. :o) xx

Thanks Jourdain - I am pleased that your ops were so successful. You are quite right following orders is imperative ( not my strong suit) I was up and about on Sunday after the op on Saturday, walked to the loo on Monday and up the stairs Moday, home Tuesday.the thing which is giving me most trouble is pins and needles and numbness in my right hand, did you experience that, I guess I am putting to much pressure on the crutch.

Yes, it's the crutch. Summon up the courage to trust the new hip a bit more. Start with standing. I was cautiously touching my toe to the floor and sort of 'walking' like that until the physio said 'Can't you put your foot down and walk properly?' I tried and, of course, I could! It will take your weight, I assure you - in fact it's probably stronger than your bone was and remember that that awful pain has gone for ever. :o) xx

Thanks all so much for the kind words. Loved the clip Slackalice! The resemblance of me to the hippo is striking, I want a tutu! Each day is getting better I am going out for a walk later as it is such a nice day xx
