my elderly Aunt, 95 has been taking 5mg of Amlodipine then it was increased to 10mg as the pressure was not coming down. Her ankles swelled on this dosage and the GP as stopped the tablets and requested a 12 hour blood pressure monitor to be fitted to see if it's white coat syndrome.

This leaves her without any medication for her blood pressure until this appointment comes throUgh.

I don't think this is a wise move. Her pressure was around 170/83 I was told.

My cousin, her daughter, doesn't seem very concerned.

The second figure is the key one. 83 is very good.
That is fine- although presumably that was on 10mg amlodopine. Can you check her blood pressure yourself? Depends how long the appointment takes to come through really.
Your aunt is 95 years old...........what are you expecting?

I can't see that life without hypotensive agents ( BP lowering tablets) will be at risk until the GP decides what to do.
Not exactly a bedside manner Sqad, was that sympathy?
wired......thank you for that contribution to the thread.

\\\\our aunt is 95 years old...........what are you expecting?\\

That means "are you expecting her life to be shortened by not taking the tablets for a few days."

Oh! and by the way...AB is "teeming" with sympathising posts but I'm afraid I tend not to be one of them, so if it is "tea and sympathy" that you are looking for...avoid sqad.
