Does anyone here who takes this drug ever suffer with extreme tiredness, lethargy and falling asleep virtually at the drop of a hat? Just wondering if this could be one of the many side effects of the drug when everything else has been ruled out. Thanks for your answers.

e\\\\\ Amlodipine, Losartan and aspirin.\\\\\ They are not likely culprits. That seems to be a miserable existence...........almost certainly due to stsatins. Might i suggest that she talks to her Gp about dropping the statins and substituting Ezetrol (Ezetimib) 10mgms which also lowers the cholesterol without side effects.

been using it for years , no obvious side effects.
im on them and other diabetic drugs and i could sleep on a washing line ,infact anywhere except when i go to bed
I had to stop taking it due to agonizing leg cramps, no other issues though.
Might it react with something else you are taking? I take Pravastatin - can't take Simvastatin as it reacts adversely with the antibiotic I have to take on a daily basis.
You are describing probably the commonest side effects of statins.......the answer to your question is.........yes.........plenty of people
That's probably why my doctor told me to take mine at night.

This about my other half, I wouldn't take them if you paid me lol. Trouble is it's during the day that the lethargy et al occurs quite alarmingly too. Also suffer leg cramps and muscle aches which I know it apparent with the tablet. Has type 2 diabetes, on insulin, diabetic kidney disease, had heart bypass many years ago. All bloods come back "normal", diabetes well controlled etc. This damned tiredness and breathlessness is a curse and sometimes it looks as though it's a medical condition in itself but they have got no answers, that's why I'm now looking at the medication. As well as Simvastatin the other meds are Amlodipine, Losartan and aspirin.
Taken that medication for about seven years and only suffered muscle aches now and then.
Now Capecitabine that I am now on is a different matter. The oncologist warned me that lethargy and tiredness was a side effect of that drug and my wife said she probably wouldn't notice that side effect on me anyway !! :-)
No problems with them for me.
Retro. I doesn't appear to have affected your keyboard speed.:-)

I am not advocating the advice in this article. I am not qualified to do so. Just for your interest.

Started with Amlodipine and Simvastin. Swollen joints, phantom toothaches, impotency, leg cramps. GP took me off both and I am on now on Lotarsan, no statins, lots of dreams but no real side effects and no intention of taking statins. Interestingly my dentist said that Simvastin is the cheapest statin on the market and that's why so many people are put on it when they start statins.
I know which my choice would be.Give me olive oil any day and a Mediterranean Diet preferably taken in the Med :-)
I take 10mg Lipitor a day with no side effects. Could it be the dose your other half takes is too high?
^ Lipitor also says atorvastatin on the packet.
my otherwise healthy DH had terrible trouble with statins. he constantly felt like he had flu, exhausted and achey. His GP at the time refused to give him anything else so he just refused to take them.
