Mr M has a shocking cold and I'd like him to take a cold and flu tablet. He is diabetic and has kidney failure. Would it be ok to take the cold and flu tablets?

i think you should discuss with your pharmacist, as far as I know, you can't take Uniflu style meds with kidney problems and diabetes
By "cold and flu tablets" you mean paracetamol or ibuprofen and by kidney failure, you mean probably Stage 3 or 4 and not on dialysis.

This will only be a short term use of cold and flu tablets and should not be a problem.
Just a thought....watch his blood sugars more carefully in the next week as you may have to up his medication temporarily.

Thank you both - he's almost over it now except for a bit of a cough.
Sqad - you were right to say about his sugar levels, they were all over the place for a while. He got up one morning and his blood sugar was 36! That same evening he had a hypo with it crashing down to 1.2.
Thanks again.
