Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

It can be really hard to stay good so lets have a look at some treats made with good stuff:

Yes I realise they are all cakes but everyone deserves a treat especially you lot :-)

Also remember where you have come from, most of you have already ready lost a load of pounds which is a fantastic achievement!

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Hi everybody, yup it's that time of the year when we can gorge on the lovely pommegranate seeds. You can use them as a snack or put them in a green salad with avocados for a colour blast. Google "how to deseed pommegranates" to find out which easy method suits you. I like the water in a bowl and scooping out the white bits with a little sieve.

Many thanks auntie ab new month new beginnings .
Well done to everyone on diets. I wish you all well with your efforts. I wish I had your willpower. Gold starts all round !
HI JAnbee why don't you join us . We don't call it a diet we call it healthy eating and we give one another different ideas which might help . I know if I did not come on here each week I would not manage to maintain my weight . I could not stick religiously to a diet as such . Plan your meals for the week is the first thing and write everything down that you eat . Hope to see you and good luck.
I'll just ditto what Wendilla just said Janbee. We're just a small circle of friends that help each other (hopefully) to stay focused and healthy and we have Auntie Ed. to keep us on the straight and narrow with CAKE recipes ha ha.....thanks Auntie!!
Wed love to have you aboard and perhaps motivated you.
Well done OG! I have been cutting out bread recently. It's too soon to say if it's working, so I'll weigh myself next Wednesday.
What do you eat where you would normally have bread Marijn?
Wendilla and Xstitcher... thank you both for the invitation to the party but I'm really useless. NO staying power. I desperately need to do something DRASTIC though . I just may take you up on your offer. xx
Hi Xstitcher, I have been having rice cakes instead of bread with what I would usually put IN a sandwich, on top of them. Or sometimes I have a jacket potato instead. I can see the difference already because my stomach isn't bloated.
Thanks for the good wishes. Not sure what I've done differently the past week. But I'm looking on it as a good gain in the present rather than a large stagnation over the past year :-)
Those are delicious substitutes Marijn, and good for you OG. How was the homemade bread this weekend?
:-)

I don't have so much bread on the weekend. It is the Sunday evening a new loaf gets baked for me. And on the Saturday before I tend to have the last 2 slices of the previous one for breakfast toast. But for sure, it's always nice.

Been a dodgy weekend for me though. I don't know why my woman is kind enough to keep handing me high calorie stuff, I have a big enough difficulty not taking in too much over the weekend as it is. Weirdly I had a remarkably low input day Friday, and then a double input Saturday, which totally overwhelmed Friday 's restraint! The scales making out I'm massive again, so I'm not taking any notice.
What do your clothes tell you OG or are they the kind that kind of just follow your ups and downs? My belts are usually a dead giveaway as to what is happening.
Rarely that rapid. But the belt is between 2 holes at present and sometimes I prefer the first one and sometimes the second. I do have loose clothes but those because lose last year, I don't think there was a lot of change this year to speak of.
Ever since I lost the facility of updating my flash drive file as the day progressed, and got into the habit of sorting it late evening when I'm home, I've found it difficult to stay inside daily goal intake. Sometimes, to my surprise, such as last Friday, when I total up I find I'm a bit under, but usually, like the last two days, I've been over (and not made up for the weekend). Dreading Wednesday's reading. Maybe I'll get a daft high reading and I can ignore it again. :-(
Good morning all,

Huge grin on my face as I'm down one kilo (approx 2 lbs) so my body knows it is back home now!
Fingers crossed for the rest of you for today. I feel silly sayng good luck, or fingers crossed because I know that every loss no matter big or small is down to serious planning and total commitment by you.
must try harder. stayed the same .
Hope you get a good result next week Wendilla, not that plateauing is a bad result.
After a week out and about in Norfolk and another week in Paris... fabulous.... I'm absolutely delighted to have stayed the same when I weighed in this morning. I indulged a little here and there but didn't overdo things nor lose control completely like I might have done in the past. I walked a fair amount too and although my belt doesn't have much give this morning, I'll be back on track soon I'm sure.

With holidays over, I'd like to lose half a stone for Christmas .... that's my next milestone.

Well done gals !

I neither understand, nor, I have to say, understand my body. In a week where I was over daily intake 5 times (4 of them quite considerably) and only under target twice (admittedly one surprisingly so), apparently I went down another ⅜lbs. Maybe I should just pig out all the time.
Re..sult OG! Well done.
