Im off to the dentist tomorrow I have to have a total of 4 fillings over 2 appointments. 2 Left 2 Right however since I went 4 months ago things have got worse they are due to do the left side tomorrow but I now have an abscess on one of the right and one of the left ones may have to come out. I am terrified Ive been to GP and he has given me 10 lorezapam tablets to take. 4 before bed tonight 2 in the morning and 4 an hour before appointment my dad is going with me so I will probably be out of it for most of tomorrow. It is ironic 2 days before I am due to go I get an abscess and toothache someones way of making sure I go !!

*** me, 10 tablets ?????
Good luck gordie. I hope it all goes well for you.
I used to have that fear too gordie but my new dentist (the old one retired) might just have cured me, he is so relaxed and cheerful himself that I relax too. Good luck for tomorrow!
All the best for tomorrow... I'm the same, I really am phobic when it comes to dentists or doctors. Let us know how you get on x

I'm with bednobs, hope you wake up in time, that seems a hefty dose! Good luck, you'll feel great once it's over and it really doesn't hurt at all these days.
Good luck gordie - I used to be dental phobic, but life is so much worse when you don't go, and dental troubles get worse and worse.

Let us know how you get on.
http://www.rxlist.com/ativan-drug/indications-dosage.htm Not such a huge daily dosage if the tablets are 0.5mg
That's quite a chemical cosh but as they are prescribed I am sure your doctor is happy,as said make it clear to the dentist when you arrive - I too am phobic and has taken me years to learn coping strategies.

You'll be glad when it's done and hopefully then have the bravery to go for regular check ups to prevent a recurrence.

Good luck for tomorrow.

Good luck mate, I didn't go for the best part of thirty years due to a stupid pointless phobia but I just got to the point where I couldn't go on with the pain and the bleeding and just had to get some spine and face the fear and now I wish I'd done it years ago
hear hear, Barks. I used to save up all my fillings and have a general anaesthetic.

Last time I went I had a root canal, just local anaesthetic - and I fell asleep during it of my own accord.
I used to dread dentistry, but no longer.
Modern techniques are excellent.
Last time I went was for a check-up.
During the check-up my lady dentist found a small piece of decay which would need a small filling.
She drilled and repaired the tooth without using anaesthesia and it was painless.
I don't mind going at all nowadays.
I have an appointment tomorrow also. Like you I am terrified of dentists. It is only a checkup but I have a metal partial denture which has worn and I am in need of a new one (had this one 35 years so done very well) but I really can't bring myself to have an impression done. I have a very sensitive mouth and cannot bear the thought of that gunge inside. Good luck for tomorrow.
Good luck too Gordie for tomorrow. Judging from the posts there are lots of people afraid of dentist including MOI very much.

I have a checkup appointment next Monday and then after that depending what is needed I will be knocked out for 2-3 hours - I am hoping to get it done in one go. I was to get this treatment 3 years ago but opted out due to fear and now I am suffering very badly with pain and bleeding but we need to go. Let us know how you get on. JjCon
Ooops I see my encouraging post is too late. Gordie is probably spaced out now so we will maybe hear from him tomorrow.
How did the trip to the dentist go, Gordie?
All good, I hope?
Pete I too would have liked to know how gordie got on - I have him on my subscribed threads.
He might be feeling a bit duff, jj - don't let it put you off going. Think of us, we're behind you all the way x
Ah thank you Boxy - received a phone call from the dentists this a.m. making sure I turn up. It is only for a check up on what needs to be done - I hope.
