DO NOT DO THIS. If you suspect a melanoma you must go to your GP for a proper investigation and treatment by a specialist.

My gp saw it yesterday and said that if it heals over then it's not a melanoma?
Why are you asking here if your GP has already spoken to you about this?
Something tells me that if this was all there was to suspicious moles, dermatologists would be on the dole.
Get it looked at, the sand is no place to stick your head.

As he refused to refer me and said that it didn't look like a melanoma even though the mole has gone just scarring? Just hear horror stories of gps not referring then it's too late when they do? Is there job on the line if they are that certain?
From your previous posts, it does appear that you have a bit of a fixation about melanomas. Your GP is doubtless aware of tis and is doing his best to reassure you.......I'm not quite sure what you think we can tell you here, that you haven't already been told.

Just petrified of it since scare last year. And I only noticed this black mole Saturday on my inner arm near elbow and picked it off.
If this worry is turning into an all consuming fear , maybe ask your doctor if some counselling may help.
We have been down this road before......so for the last time....hopefully:

YES

\\\\ and could you pick a melanoma off?\\

With the greatest of difficulty and blood laeeting.

Melanoma is just a mole, a malignant melanoma is another matter altogether. You shouldn't pick moles though at any time.

Thank you sqad you seem to have a lot of knowledge! :-).

I confirm that Sqad does have "a lot of knowledge".

A career as a doctor helped.
As a moly person myself, DON'T PICK. If the GP didn't refer you, it's because he knows your history and his mental checklist about moles says that yours doesn't look threatening. Trust your GP.

But I picked it off so he only see scarring?
