I have to say I am quite glad about this I find the attitude of the staff in store to be disgusting and they almost expect people to shop there and are not grateful at all. I think the saying pride comes before a fall comes to mind

i don't shop there, if i can avoid it,
My local Tescos is fine, nice staff, a good range of stuff, easy parking.
Yes a lot depends on which store you use.But Tesco are bleating about a drop in PROFITS,you have to realise they still made 3.3 billion profit
I find their staff ever so helpful.

I think it's the current financial climate and nothing to do with anti Tesco.
As in life, our Tesco has a mixed bag of staff, some lovely and some bloody obnoxious. I won't go on one till if there's a certain lady serving as I don't trust myself not to get into a dingdong with her.

As to the profits, I'm not sure it means anything significant to us mere mortals, Tesco will carry on doing what they do and we can chose to buy from them or not.
As ummmm says, it's the current Financial market along with stiff competition from other Retailers

Don't use Tesco very often, but always find the Staff to be helpful and polite, I don't expect them to be grateful.
It must depend on your store - ours is fine, so is the petrol station. Why should the staff be grateful that we shop there?

I do tend to use Morrisons or Aldi more than Tesco this days though - Tesco distracts me, it's a huge store and I often come out with more than I meant to buy (even though I take a list).
I shop in Tesco as it's the nearest big supermarket to where I live. The staff there are lovely, helpful and very chatty. No complaints from me.
I find it somewhat ironic that our major food retailers are suffering because of the exponential rise in the sales figures of the German rivals Aldi and Lidl. One only has to look at the full car-parks outside Aldi and Lidl to see where people are going...after all, the amount of food bought is finite and if these two stores are increasing month-on-month...somebody else must suffer.
Maybe all of the customers have gone to Aldi..
Or the local food bank! LOL!
I don't like Aldi and Lidl. Good for fruit and veg and some basics but I don't like their meat.
i quite like tesco, i get a home delivery once a month of the heavy stuff, never had a problem with them. I'm not sure what store you go to, but i've never encountered staff as you describe in any supermarket

i use asda/tesco/morrisons mainly. i'll pop to lidl occasionally for pretzels but i hate aldi
Staff in store disgusting?

Aren't the majority of store staff just your average folk from your own town who happen to work there? Are you saying they get become different when at work gordiescotland?
I only use it when I know that I can get everthing there and do not have to go to an other shop.
I like Tesco and get a weekly delivery. Just before Xmas I was able to put my clubcard points towards a new printer and various other household things, I also got a cordless carpet sweeper.

I'm off to change my delivery slot for this week's order now. :-)
I found the prices kept increasing and moved to Asda. It makes a big difference for six of us, and a lot of the food is much nicer, imo .
When Tesco first arrived their food was pretty good now I find it almost boring. I never go there now.
Tescos food quality has gone downhill and the prices have shot up in the last year, started using Sainsburys but now use a new Morrisons store about 5 miles away
