I have anxiety everyday of my life and it tends to disrupt everything. With every good thought I have, god knows how many bad thoughts follow it. Just wondered how you cope with anxious times.

sorry you feel like this hollie - it must be very wearing for you. I'm afraid i don't have any advice because if im ever anxious it's usually temporary
Question Author
I just wish it was temporary
the best thing is not to keep it bottled up. Talk to someone. See your doctor for a referral for a psychiatrist if necessary. There is no shame in it. We all let things get to us at times. Does being anxious run in your family?
oh....and i take lots of (prescribed) drugs. have you been to your gp or seen a shrink? it is horrible dealing with anxiety if interventions are not working.....what's going a bit wonky for you? x
Have you sought advice and help from your doctor hollie?

Anxiety does run in the family. My gran had it and my sister has it. I am already on propranolol and have been taking it for a few years but think it might need changing. Since I can remember I have always been a shy person and the anxiety really kicked in 10 years ago when my dad had a stroke when he was 56 which has left him paralysed down his right side. My mum and myself are his primary carers so there is a lot of stress at the best of times. Christmas doesn't worry me. We love Christmas. I just can't imagine what it is like to have a day without anxiousness.
Hi hollie, I sympathise with you greatly as I have suffered anxiety and depression for 35 years. I have been to my GP , I am lucky I have a good one. I have medicine that helps and I have had CBT with a therapist when I hit a lower than usual low. I use distraction as much as possible as a tool when I feel the anxiety coming on. Try to picture yourself in the bath surrounded by all your worries and woes, now while you lie among them, pull the plug releasing the water. Imagine the worries trying to cling onto you , but been swept down the drain. It might take more than one attempt. Keep trying, and the very worst of your worries will probably never happen. Much love . xx

Oh bless you Hollie x...cant be easy at times, sweetheart.

Whenever I feel anxious and have things on my mind, I just go and swim, maybe a run, keep busy doing stuff, and chat and play with my kids to de-stress me out....mrs bear helps out and tells me not to worry......she's sooooooo laid back she'll fall down one day.

I hope you have some help with your anxiety...there are some pills that the Doctor can prescribe you, if you dont already have some, and our neighbour, who is in her late 60's now , gets it alot...even the slightest thing can start it off and she gets bad panic attacks too. She is on medication to help her....she has had a lot of stress lately, bless her ...... both her daughter and son are having messy break ups in their marriages with grandchildren involved too :(...........you can only be there to support her, if need be and we all do.

Maybe you can take up a hobby you like, or just ring and chat to a friend or a member of the family or watch a film you love and oput all your troubles behing you .........perhaps bingo, but dont go mad young lady ok? lol

Hope you feel better soon, Hollie

I send you all my love

yogi xx
Worry about it.
Do you and your mother get any help with the day to day care of your dad?

Thanks for all your replies. It helps to talk to you. Baza...he has one shower a week done by a private company which is 20 pounds and a sitter once every two weeks which costs 8 pounds an hour and we are usually out around 7 hours. We get no help for paying for these things from the government as my mum works. This goes for all equiptment we need too and mobility companies don't half know how to charge...they are robbers.
Hi Hollie, I too have personal disability & domestic problems to deal with and manage fine but having said that, we are all different. I understand that Yoga and/or Pilates are a wonderful way to relax both the mind and body. Try it. It's cheap - just the initial outlay for a reputable DVD. Good luck!

Have you tried a relaxation cd hollie? You listen to it day or night in a quiet room. I play mine at night and it really helps. Glenn Harold is good you can see it online.
