Could any kind person help my daughter. She used her credit card in a charity shop for £8-22. The machine declined it despite money in account, so she used her debit card with success BUT here`s the problem, the money has been taken out from the credit card account despite it was voided.
The credit people say it`s the shops responsibilty but the shop says it`s nothing to do with them although the manager said there had been problems with the machine. Her receipts show there was no sale on the credit card so where is her £8-22???
I would be very grateful if anyone can tell us where to go from here. I`m not very good with plastic as I only use cash so I hope it makes sense to you. many thanks

I would write a polite but strong letter to the head office of the charity, with copies of credit card bill and bank statement showing the duplicated payment.

Have you had a statement or are you checking this online? If online, I recommend waiting 24hours as it might credited back. Sometimes a transaction goes through but doesn't compete and gets cancelled. You might just have caught it midway through.

If she's had a statement then she needs to dispute the charge in writing to the credit card company and they will reclaim the money from the shop and cancel the payment.

Show proof (statements) to shop & they can/should credit the account.
