upper arm!

Ive been getting waves of pain for most of the day between my left shoulder, but mainly in my bicep muscle.Sat amongst student nurses all day ive been diagnosed with heart attack, indigestion and wind. I personally think it could be linked to me having degeneration of discs between L5 and L7 and maybe a nerve is being pinched....but surely this would cause pain down both arms? Its a radiating pain that is annoying the life out of me.

\\\\\ L5 and L7\\\\

Didn't know there was an L7.
Probably a bit higher i.e Cervical discs.
pene....are we talking discs OR nerve roots?
Hi Squad. I suffer with mild spondylosis and experience the same symptoms. Have been seen my neurologist and advised that it is "Radicular" in origin. I guess that that means nerve involvement from the spondylosis. Stand to be corrected of course.

whoops!!! I meant "C" not "L2" blame that one on the pain
pene...no, i think that you are correct.

My concern is that of a post from a nurse to be which has totally inaccurate data.............
Squad, yes I see you point, wrong end of the spinal column :-)
ilove.........mmmmm! ...that is better.

I agree with pene, it does sound like radiculitis, but as far as radiating down both arms, it would have to be a bloody great disorder to hit C567 on the right and also C567 on the left..........

No, disc lesions usually give unilateral symptoms......not bilateral.

Ive only ever had an x-ray! So far i have had physiotherapy, acupuncture, facet joint injections and the pain clinic have gave me a tens machine to try. The only think that helps is heat patches and massage (for 3 or 4 knotty muscles of neck and back). My GP told me its not curable but on reading up there is something called cervical disectomy?
discectomy.........
I've been told to "grin and bear it". Apply heat regularly and take Paracetamol when necessary. Strongly advised against any form of 'manipulative' therapy. Age related I guess.

many thanks to sqad (forgiven) x and penelope too!! guess we'll just have to grin and bear it !!
in fairness to Sqad, ilovemarkb, you probably do need to be spelling things right (when the pain recedes, of course), for professional reasons
