\\\My Daughter is working full-time and studying part-time \\\

You mean that she has a full time job and studying in the evenings?

Not being able to sleep before an exam is normal and unlikely to affect her performance.

I would advice not taking anything, just for one exam.
Try to help her to remove all other concerns she might have at the moment. Go to bed when she is ready but not especially early. Stop studying at least half an hour before bed and no reading or TV in bed.
dont study get to brd!
Play a Pink Floyd album on the music player, that will do the trick.
Try Nytol or one of its cheaper generic equivalents. Works for me.
lavender oil on her pillow may help, . A munch of lettuce I'm told before bedtime also helps, but haven't tried it myself. Found Kalms helped , they don't make you drowsy in the morning.
An amino acid called tryptophan helps with insomnia. It can be found in Montmorency Cherry Juice (available in Tesco) and good old bananas.
I'll sleep on it.

Fill a pillow full of dried hops, and put it under her normal pillow. You can get hops from a brew-it-yourself shop. When I went hop-picking, I slept like the dead.
a shared can of draught guinness was found to be a help, but when i tried to drinking a can alone a few days later, it kept me awake.
