I have a pain

I have a pain, two actually, around my middle - where my waist should be if I had one. It has been there about a week.

One is at the right towards my back - and the other at the left but at the front. Neither pain is dreadful, more a dull ache.

Any idea what it can be that is causing this pain and is paracetamol okay to take - can't take ibuprofen.

Have you got a rash? Might be shingles.
Question Author
No rash - it feels like a muscular problem. I think that is is a digestion related problem but not too sure.

I am off back to bed, Frankie demanded to sleep under the duvet with me and purred all night whilst demanding constant petting - I need a sleep. :-)
Well, maybe you were sleeping in a funny position because of Frankie ans now you're sore. Sleep well.
Yes paracetamol is OK to take, I think any attempt at diagnosing anything on the info given would be huge stab in the dark.
I think shingles would be visible by now if it was painful.

I wouldn't attempt a diagnoses and sqad will probably want more details as well.
RATTER...lol. Absolutely correct.

What sort of pain...aching or stabbing? ( shingles is stabbing)
Does anything make nit worse? Eating, moving?
Are you constipated and are your "waterworks" OK.
Any nause or vomiting?
Have you been doing any unaccustomed exercises.....digging in the garden, lifting etc.

Sounds muscular and yes I agree with my friend RATTER, paracetamol would be an appropriate choice of pain killer.
I reckon you need a good fart
Hoppy....was that addressed to me? LOL.
Well let it go if you need, Sqad
IMHO: kidneys or gall stones?

Wolf my dad has "inflammed ribs" says its quite painfull. Just a suggestion xxx
kidney infection ? bit of a chill maybe ???..or strain ?? ..you been leaning over changing beds turning folks etc ???
just seen hopkirks response and..as crude asit may sound ...trapped wind VERY painful !
My Mum fractured a small bone in her pelvis in October and since recovering from that she now has a similar pain to yours - stabbing when she moves or breathes in, Doctor has sent her for another back Xray (results next week) but thinks that could be muscular ............ I wondered if she has fractured a rib as she had a bad cough a few weeks ago and has been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Sounds like a muscular pain to me wolf.............
LOL @ Sqad - no wolf hasn't got a "nit" problem!
Question Author
Thanks for all the suggestions. Although it is not trapped wind I have had this in the past and it hurts badly.

I will veer towards gallbladder problems - but the pain is in two distinct sites. If I don't die during the afternoon I will be back later.
Sorry for the frivolity.

I hope you feel better soon.
Question Author
Hopkirk - frivolity is acceptable - especially from a ghost.
Hello Wolf63.

I hope you feel better than you did earlier.

I had a an annoying, persistant pain that started in my head, then heart and then an all-over pain for 20 years.

It's gone now...

My divorce from my pain finally came through a month ago, yippee!

coggles
Wolfie, do not ignore any pain, a pain is like a red warning light going on. Your body's way of telling you there is something wrong.
Go & see your GP & set you're mind at rest.

Question Author
coggles - I am glad that you found a remedy to your 'pain'. Did you not think of doing the cause of this pain some damage at an earlier date?

jemisa - I think that I have had this before and that it did go after a week or so. I will see how it goes - it is almost like a twinge.
