Surely the clue is in the name. It's a scope they stick in your endo.
had the spray in the throat, the nurse said it tasted of bananas, if that is what she thought bananas tasted like then i will not go to hers for dinner.
However , the stuff worked and the camera was soon in and back out. Go for it and just relax.

this question relates to an earlier one i asked with my old account that was wrongfully imo deleted after 5 years. the question was regarding acid re-flux which hasn't cleared after about 4 months.Squad answered that question best, and in regards to your post on this thread i dont know what type of endoscopy it will be.

the endoscopy is not a certain thing, the doctor wants bloods in a week and to do a test on my breath which can detect if it is a virus/bug, she then mentioned ulcers which i think is/would be the reason for the endoscopy.

to the people who mentioned sedatives(i know i'v just explained its a possibility of a endoscopy but bit worried),is the sedative a benzo? i'e diazepam?
ronnie....it sounds as though your endoscopy will be a Gastroscopy( tube+camera into the stomach via the mouth)

It can be done under sedation either Benzodiazapine as you mentioned or Propofol which is being used more often.

The breath test will be to identify Helibacter Pylori which may or may not be associated with gastric ulcers and can be treated with antibiotics.

sqad sorry about the error in name,i see you as either a doctor in disguise or just a very highly educated person from your posts.

if it does go down the gastroscopy route can i opt for the propofol as someone once told me that the reason diazepam etc has had little effect on me compared to them is because of a cross tolerance on the gaba receptors on the brain due to my alcoholism.(that might of sounded like a load of babble)

just worried because i'v heard of opiate addicts involved in say road traffic accidents only being given the protocol maximum amount of morphine.
ronnie.....ease up on the "highly educated " bit...LOL

Yes, if you voice your concern and your past history, then I See no reason why propofol should,t be a satisfactory sedative.
