Just got back from doctor - re painful hip.

He says too early for x ray etc as only had pain for 4/5 days but is sending me for blood tests re poss inflammation. Looked up my notes and in blood testshad months ago I apparently had slightly high MCV levels. Think thats to be expected with an underactive thyroid though isnt it? Anyway, he is having all blood tests re done and take it from there.

Not sure of the relevance of a high MCV in your case, but the rest of the management is fine.

Thanks sqad : )
An elevated MCV can sometimes be seen with hypothyroidism. It is not considered a diagnostic test, rather a sometimes seen association in patients with hypothyroidism. So yes, an elevated MCV in a patient with hypothyroidism would not be unexpected. If memory serves, in almost all cases where such patients were treated with thyroxine, the MCV reduced.
Hope it eases off soon smow xxx
