Most likely an iodine dressing.

Iodine.....a bit heavy........but could be.
Betadine is more likely. |

This is the sort of thing I was thinking of sqad, they are impregnated with a dilute solution of iodine. I had them when I had my lung surgery and chest drain. Mind you that was 8 years ago now so they may not use them now. |

yep, that's the stuff they used when I was in hospital, I'd had a 'pic'(?) line put in and it wouldn't stop bleeding, they took me off the ward and down to the A&E dept to sort it.

Many thanks for the info folks. The dressing was a good 'un so I thought of getting some in.

I've had them a few times on infected wounds - they ae good stuff!
