Is there any cause of this? My 15 year son is suffering with them badly.

//Reported prevalences of growing pains have been between 2% and 46% of children.[2] Growing pains are said to typically occur in two periods during a child's life, firstly, between about 3 and 5 years old, then later in 8 to 12 year olds.[3] There are however no published epidemiological studies to support this observation. Individuals can vary markedly in when they experience growing pains//

He's nearly 16. If he was younger I would have put it down to growing pains.
Sorry Ummmm!
Question Author
Sorry for what?
For inadvertantly making your thread turn into a debate about growing pains.
Has he been drinking alcohol?
Question Author
That's okay. It was actually my first thought. It's interesting to read Sqads opinion on it.
I get them if I wear ankle socks with elasticated tops but not with pop socks.
As said, mine was a C&P of a Dr who did a study in a children's hospital in Australia

However, it has been used my my and my mums GP so I could probably hazard a good bet on other GP's using it
a debate is good evian, no matter the topic
oj..........what is C&P?
Question Author
Has he been drinking alcohol? He does occasionally, with permission. Not enough for me to connect the two.
Question Author
Copy and paste, Sqad.
I had growing pains when I was 15 and also when I was 16.

I used to ride my bicycle everywhere and when I was 16 I couldn't ride it for about 6 weeks as it was so painful for me.

After the 6 weeks I found that none of my trousers or jeans seemed to fit any more, I'd grown about 3 inches in my legs !
ummmm/oj......right.

We d seem to be off the subject of cramps and on to "growing pains"

LOL...........good debate though as oj said.
indeed =)

I find this stuff fascinating - there's a q popped up now about trapped wind in the collar bone area.

Hopefully Cockney. He's small for his age. I think he's 5'3 now.

I'll def take him to the docs. I'll get him to keep notes of when it happens. I know it happens during the day as well. It just seems to hurt more in the evenings. He also says he gets cramp in his foot.
ooo now I get, what I describe as cramp, in my foot and toes
Damned painful but as it goes as quickly as it turns up, there isnt much I can do except for rubbing it. Dont think that actually odes much but make me feel better
Oh, I also neglected to mention that young boys also have to put up with very painful nipple aches and testicle aches too.... Unfortunately it's difficult to rub them better :o)
Question Author
He's been through the nipple thing. Not sure about his testicles....he might have spoke to his dad about that :-)
Shall we turn this into a how women have it much worse than blokes thread :)
