arthritis

All my joints and tendons ache and creak. I can barely move or get my balance. My knees are quite difficult to straighten. It is worse in damp and foggy weather. I take fish oil tablets. There is osteo arthritis in the family. Are there any foods that help the condition, or conversely, that aggravate the condition.
What pain killers should I take to reduce inflammation? I am not taking any other medication.

Try Celadrin Baz, available from Holland and Barrett and other on-line stores. It works in tandem with Glucosamine which is freely available and I believe some Dr's will prescribe it.
For the pains I take good old paracetamol.
go to your gp asap! ask to be referred to a rheumatology and pain consultant. each will assess you, give you a diagnosis and appropriate medication....don't suffer in silence! x
I am not a great advocate of Glucosamine......but many doctors are.

It does indeed sound like osteoarthritis and as Icg says go to your GP for confirmation. I am not sure that a Consultant would want to see you at this early stage, but.......who knows.

I would take Ibuprofen 400mgms for the pain when and if necessary up to 6Hourly and then monitor the situation.
Some foods have anti-inflammatory properties eg. tomatoes. Try googling it.
I would say go to see your GP and get some early treatment rather than wait 'til it gets really bad.
Whether or not you will be referred to a Rheumatologist could depend on where you live or how bad your GP thinks it is.
Your GP might prescribe anti inflammatories and pain killers which would be better than buying over the counter supplements or watching what you eat in the way of food.
Rodge2 has suggested tomatoes and yet I always thought these were bad for arthritis sufferers.
I have had osteoarthritis for years ,it's easier now than it's ever been which I believe is due to a daily intake of Glucosamine 1500mg and Rosehip 2000mg.

Some great answers here. Thank you for your advice.
Try not to give in to the pain Baz because it's important to keep your muscle strength up in order to support the affected joints. Not easy I know. There are lots of supplements that purport to help and you need to find the one/mixture that suits you. Watch the anti-inflamatories as they can cause other problems with continued use.
I also try to have a break from the supplements in the summer when the weather is warm and dry, purely because I think the body gets less affect from them if used continually.
in addition to painkillers, remedies and supplements, can i recommend the correct walking aid for you, and use of suitable aids in the home eg. grab rails over bath etc!

they will help you avoid fractures and extra pressure on joints!
