You need to look at the MASTA website, bobby, and see if you need to take malaria tablets - don't neglect that, if you do.
The best deterrent I have found for mozzies is simple - Avon's Skin So Soft oil body spray. Whenever I forget to take it on holiday, I get bitten. Stock up on it - it's excellent.

Watch embarrassing bodies on C4 +1
it mentioned mozzies tonight.

monkey balm or tiger balm. they sell it in all pharmacies and 7/11's the green one is the best in my opinion. but we all have different blood so to speak. its dirt cheap. i bought 10 tins, years ago. take it wherever i go in the world. best repellent and after soother by far that i have found. very fortunate you are going to Thailand, as i have not seen it anywhere else.

|
Tiger balm stinks though :-( I use it for nasal congestion and headaches.

buy the net and deet spray when you first arrive (it will save you pounds) the plug-ins are useless.

Never used anti-mosquito juice, it depends where you are going.....if inland, then yes. If Bangkok, Phuket and the Islands, then it is redundant.
Make sure you are up on your DTT though and Hep..........

true boxy, but everyone smells of it. doesn't take long to get used to it. the green one is eucalyptus based, so it doesn't smell to bad.

|
Avon skin so soft is what I use. It works a treat.
|
|
Be clear on that - within Thailand.....

It's only the female that bites . Years ago you used to be able to a buy a type of thingie at fishing tackle shops .It was like a pen that you clipped on your clothing and it emitted a high pitched sound .
I don't know if they still do them but worth having an ask round .
I got terribly bitten by them when we lived in the Netherlands ( stagnant water everywhere ).Bloomin' things were huge like elephants and full of blood when you zapped them ! Yuk .
But a friend gave me one of these devices and it was brilliant .

I've spent a lot of time in Thailand... up North, down south and on the islands... only thing that worked for me was DEET.

we used to get some juiceys to cook on the BBQ but the presence of the Oude Rijn across the road helped to keep most of the buzzies away, despite being in an old Dutch farmhouse........
|
|
We had a dyke running right along the front of one house we lived in .It was a nightmare .We had mossie nets up the windows and I used to dance about at night with a zapper .The walls were covered in splat marks :)
