General Anaesthetic

Previously, I've never had any problems after a GA. I had an operation on Thursday and I'm home now, but I can't keep awake and feel permanently groggy. I even fell asleep on the loo this afternoon! Does anyone have any idea how long this will last for?

hate to be negative but the old saying is one month for each hour under....however, the impact of sleep probably is much less.

Are you doing too much Mrs O?

Hope all is ok though...........

Hi DT
No, I'm not doing too much - have been in my pj's all day and my most strenuous activity was reading the papers
Mrs O I had one just over 2 weeks ago and I'm still groggy but I think it can be a combination of that and the painkillers I'm on. I had heard it can take up to a month to get "back to normal" but I think it depends on the individual. I hope you feel better soon x
Just look after yourself by eating healthily, plenty of rest, get out for a SHORT walk in daylight. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I had heard that it took about 6 months for it to fully get out of your system. I would advice drinking lots of water and eating some greens.
Take it easy Mrs O and sleep as much as you need to. Hope you feel better soon.

Jonny - Are the Spelling Police on leave? I "advise" them to get back on duty!
Hi!...depends on what anaesthetic you had, for what operation and other underlying conditions.

A bit early to start worrying, but make sure that all is well IF you have other conditions.........e.g BP fine if you have Hypertension, blood sugars fine ifnyounhave diabetes and so on.
Sorry about that but the Spelling Police do not correct their own spelling.

Should they do so?
I'm so jealous of your avatar Mrs O, wish I'd thought of it! Hope you're feeling better now!
