Thanks masma. I have tried some socialising with my brother over the last couple of weeks. He's alienated himself over the years with his excess drinking as you will understand & as a consequence isn't included much in things. Where I can drink socially, he has to go the max. I love him very much.

Quassia - ain't it just a nightmare? I feel so sorry for any family going through the same thing, be it drink or drugs. My boy was alienated from the family for years, he held down a good job and could've 'had it all' He got the sack, lost his home and wife and had to come and live with us (we were newly retired and looking forward to enjoying ourselves) Fingers crossed he's on the road to recovery...
Viv - Coco is our saving grace at the moment, she's so funny that it's light relief to be with her xxx

Coco has an important part to play in this as well, unconditional love for you all.

How dreadful for you masma. We have an alcoholic in the family (my nephew) and so I know how awful it is. You can never relax because one drink and he will be back to square one. I hope you are successful in rehabilitating him and of course that he also is able to keep sober.
