I take Diclofenic (sp) for my back pain. It seems to do the trick.
Question Author
thanks, do you know if there are totally different ingredients in Diclofenic compared to mine that im taking? Also can i buy them over the counter or are they prescription only?
Sorry, I am pretty useless! I get them on prescription. I used to take co-codamol but found it made me really light headed and nauseous. Not sure on the difference. I'm sure Sqad will know!
The only thing I know about co codamol is that it contains coedine [30]
Question Author
yes, im hoping Sqad will help me out here. to be honest, i have been feeling a bit light headed recently, experiencing a very brief out of body movement, very weird. im constantly tired too as not sleeping well even with mild sleeping tablet, after a short while im awake again, hence why im on here now! got fed up so got up to sit in the chair!
Co-codamol is a mixture of paracetamol and codeine.

Diclofenac is quite different . It is a NSAID non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, similar to ibuprofen.

I don't think you can buy diclofenac without a prescription, not sure about co-codamol.
You can buy ibuprofen without prescription.
Thats exactly how I felt on Co-codamol. I can only describe it as feeling a bit weird!
I think you will find that any really strong pain killer has to be prescribed by the doctor. Even paracetamol can only be sold over the counter in small amounts, which of course does not preclude you from going from pharmacy to pharmacy buying a small amount in each if you so desire. You should go back to your doctor and discuss it with him or her - there are stronger remedies he can prescribe if cocodamol is not suitable for you.

can i just say too that the doctor didnt tell me to take things easy, ie not to lift things etc so im not sure how much i should be doing each day? i did some ironing today and kept having a sit down then some cleaning and a rest. it hurt more when i sat down, i hate the posture of our suite in the lounge and usually end up sitting up on the bed but that even hurts me now. so just how much or little should i be doing?
Co-codamol consists of 500mg Paracetamol per tablet plus 8mg codeine, a tiny dose, hence you can buy it over the counter. Codeine, being a derivative of opium, can be addictive, but I would not have thought so in so small a dose. It is not a strong painkiller so you will need to consult a physician to prescribe anything stronger to relieve your pain.
nextqueen's cocodamol was prescribed by her doctor though and has 30mg of
coedine, no wonder she feels light headed. It is a very powerful and addictive
drug.
Ah, I see. 30 mg codeine. Was prescribed that after major surgery. Different kettle of fish, sorry.
How many are you taking, nextqueen?
Ibuprofen 400mgms....these may be obtained over the counter.
