Can anyone offer a possible explanation as to why a numb feeling in the feet and legs can occur after sitting for a while? An elderly aunt has this condition from time to time.
Thanks.

I will presume that she is not taking any medication.
I will presume that she is not diabetic.
I will presume that she is over 70 years of age

Then my answer is that it is due to inadequate blood supply as often encountered in the elderly.

If any of the assumptions are incorrect, then i will be happy to modify my answer.
