You hear of people being so drunk they are sick and choke to death but can that happen if you are just naturaly asleep?

Wouldn't your natural instinct be to wake up?

Sober or not on drugs you would probably wake up.
Highly unusual in a normally healthy sober person, but not impossible
As you suggest, only people who have some brain impairment (e.g. through alcohol or other drug use, or through an injury to the brain) are normally at risk of choking to death from vomiting while asleep. ('Asleep' is not really an accurate term under such circumstances, anyway. 'Unconscious' would probably be more accurate).

Even young babies, who have very little control over their bodies, wake upon vomiting and thus avoid choking.

Thats what I thought.

I am sick about 20 times a night and mostly I am awake as I'm a bit worried about it so can't sleep (hence me up at this time) but I was asleep once and woke up with it coming out my nose.. Not pleasant at all.
My uncle was 28 when he had an epileptic fit in his sleep and choked on his vomit and died. He was fit and healthy and didn't drink. A friend woke up to find lots of sick on her pillow after drinking too much and hadn't known she'd done it. If you are sick you may panic and inhale it whether you are awake or asleep and choke. Not nice.
Why are you sick so much, have you had this checked out?

I had a gastric band 18 months ago and it is fine other than being sick when I lie down.

If I am slightly elavated it doesn't occure. It's only when I lay flat.
Try sleeping semi sat up propped by pillows or get a bedrest

I often do but I don't half get a numb bottom... lol
Thats not right cassa, see you Doc or your surgeon.
cassa - is this is a recent problem or since you first had the band fitted?
Cassa the others are right you need to report back to your doctor, are you following the guidelines correctly.
I just wondered if you have had this problem since any adjustment of the band? Are you chewing your food properly?
if you dont want to sleep sitting up, put some books or blocks under the head end legs of your bed
You sound like an idiot, go to the doctors.
This coupled with other strongly opinionated comments you have posted elsewhere on this forum have led me to believe I am very close to the truth with my previous comment Good luck
