White filling price

I've just paid for a white filling as an NHS patient. Is that right? Usually when I pay for a white filling I'm sure it's a lot less. Thank you

white fillings are not available on the NHS, therefore you have paid a private charge for it.

Thanks bednobs. I thought maybe there was a price for private patients having private treatment, and NHS patients having private treatment. I only have white fillings because I was adivised by a homeopath not to have mercury fillings. All my other dental treatment is totally NHS. Anyway, I could've sworn I'd only paid £35 for white fillings in the past.

no, you either will have paid an NHS charge (about £46.50 i think) for a filling or a private charge (which can be whatever they want to charge)

nhs dental treatment is not free, unless you are in an exempt group (in ft education/ on qualifying benefits/pregnant or had a baby in the last year).
Everyone else has to pay NHS charges whaich are about £16 for band1 treatment (check up/basic polish) £46.50 for band 2 treatment (fillings etc) and £198 for band 3 treatment (dentures/crowns lab work).
you only pay 1 charge for each course of treatment, so for instance if you need a check up then 9 fillings it only costs £46.50

I wish I could find an NHS dentist with spaces for new patients round here, my last lot of work cost me nearly £300 privately. He's a good dentist, though!

Hi boxtops, yes, I guess I'm lucky to have an NHS dentist. The dentist I saw yesterday has replaced my usual dentist, cos he's left. I loved my dentist, I could've cuddled him. . . . but he's gone :-(

My dentist will do white fillings in the front teeth for the NHS fee since they are so visible, but anything in the back teeth is silver on NHS or a private fee of around £75.

Thanks bushbaby, I thought £90 seemed a lot of money, but having everyone's comments, it sounds about right.
