My daughter's BF, an extremely fit, active, ideal weight, ex-Army man has recently had a very red face. He hasn't been in the sun (it's more of a red face than a tanned face) and people have remarked upon it.

He has no other signs and no symptoms.
Could it be high blood pressure?

No.
How much does he drink?
Question Author
Not that much - i.e. no more than your average 26 year old.

So sqad - what could it possibly be due to?
Question Author
It doesn;t look like rosacea.
salla....impossible for me or anyone else to say.

Is it permanent or has it happened just recently?

Is there a pattern...e.g like a butterfly wing appearance?
Blood vessels dilate and constrict with temperature fluctuations. Has he been working in a warm environment where, say, the heating is on full blast?
Question Author
No pattern - just generalised redness of the entire face. It's been for about a month now.

He trained as an electrician in the army - he has been working in a cold store recently where he has had to wear multiple layers to keep warm, so you could be correct Matron Mercy.
Sounds like that's it then. My face was bright red when I went to New York - temperatures there plummeted to -25. Brrrrrr....
NoM once again seems to be "spot on".............lovely woman too ;-)
Question Author
It's just that he's only been working in the cold store for about a week - his red face has been for at least a month. And none of his co-workers are affected.

so I just wondered........?
-- answer removed --
You're not so bad yourself, Sqad. I might suggest Bob and I honeymoon in Menorca, then you and I can have a wild fling. ;-)
Honeymoon?????????
Just jesting ;-)
Question Author
A fling on your honeymoon?
Trollop..............!!
And bob is like a surrogate son to sqad. Well.......

No Butch - it's not that!!!!
Ah!...the plot thickens.....his face was red BEFORE he worked in the cold store......??

I still think that NoM is correct.

There are many causes for this, but if he is well in himself and symptomless the forget it, but if you do have a spare moment from you totally absorbing job, then Google...."Malar Flush"
NoM it would be a pleasure..........especially for you ;-)
Some people are more affected than others by extreme(ish) temperatures, and the weather has been up and down for a few weeks now.
Morning all

Sounds like what NoM suggested. If he's worried about it, a full MOT blood test and reassurance from the good quack will be the best option.
I think as Butch says he cherry's up when he sees your lovely self, banana's

This is work-related sqad - medical / health. Its called Accumulation of Knowledge ;-)
