Hi, does anyone know how safe the new flu jab is, as it is combined with the swine flu jab? Thanks

I wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole, but see what others say.

It's as safe as any flu jab, I shall certainly be having one again this year. here is some information. The flu vaccine is inert so you can't catch flu from it. There are people who shouldn't have it due to other conditions, but people like asthmatics are recommended. The staff in the GP surgeries giving the vaccine should have had an annual update in anaphylaxis in the remote case that anyone has an anaphylactic reaction, but otherwise this year's vaccine is thought to be no more risky than in previous years - last year's swine flu campaign has resulted in (they say) an improved combined vaccine this year. The only side effects I have ever suffered have been soreness at the vaccine point. The vaccine can't give you flu. http://www.webmd.boot...lu-jab-available-soon
^ PS - re your daughter, check with your GP or practice nurse. I don't know but they should have a list of conditions in which they should not give the vaccine routinely. The GP has to sign off the list of patients who are given the vaccine in each clinic, this should be standard practice, so anyone not suitable should not be on the list.

Thank you Boxtops will do. xx
My O/H and I had ours last week, and we`re ok.
I have a flu jab every year - mind you have to wait this time as i have a flu-like illness at the minute....so hopefully i will be immune to anything else making the rounds....
I had a letter to tell me to go to our surgery for the annual flu jab between 9am and 12 today, but I couldn't make it. The next mass jab-in will be on 30th October. So we will both go then. I always end up with a sore arm.
We had ours last week and have been absolutely fine - been having it for years now with no side affects.
I have had the jabs for a long while now - flu, swine the last 2 years and a one-off pneumonia jab because I am in the at-risk group. I have had no problems with any of the jabs and agree with the info boxy posted earlier. (Evening masma ♥)
Good evening Ttfn, how are you tonight?
We took Coco with us on a narrow boat holiday last week, though she'd be a nightmare but she was fine didn't jump in the canal once! xx
Oh bless her little cotton socks masma - wet dog on a narrow boat - you are a gambling lady! Not too bad ta - just getting over my chest infection - excuse us tamirra
Yes indeed - sorry for invading your post tamirra, won't be a mo...
Get well soon Ttfn hope you're feeling better very soon xx
I've had my combined jab, thankfully. Flu is very risky for me and the jab is a great help.
I had the swine flu jab last year without any side effects, and no side effects this year from the combined jab.
Cheers masma. I had my combined jab on Thursday - didn't even get the slight lump on the vaccine point this year and no ill-effects either. Tamirra - if your doctor advises the jab i would say definitely have it ;o)

Thanks all, will definatly have to check about my daughter 1st still tho. xxx
Are you still with us, Boxtops? I've had my flu jabs for the last few years with no side effect whatsoever but I read recently that Flu jabs could contain mercury and aluminium so I wouldn't truthfully want any mercury inside me.
Is there any truth in this statement at all, do you know?? It could have been a statement from an American source if that's any help.
