mixedspice....no, but a doctor might have.
I'm fortunate never to have suffered from,But have heard some swear by drinking barley water.
mixedspice....I was perhaps a bit short with you......sorry.

Cystitis is almost always a bacterial infection of the bladder, which needs the organism identifying and the appropriate antibiotic prescribed.

This can only be done by going to your GP and having your urine tested.
sqad is the doc but if you don't want to go to your GP ask at your local chemist....
If it's recurrent, maybe you have a problem with the Kidneys. As others have said Cranberry Juice is good, also drink lots of water, to keep the Kidneys and Bladder flushed through.
I would say not to bother with the home cures and get to your dr for antibiotics. I wasted time trying all the cranberry juice and sachets from boots and nothing worked, the tablets from the dr got rid of the pain in a day and the infection a couple of days later.

If i'd know this at the time I would have gone to the dr straight away and not wasted time with the other things which did not work!
Some things work well for some and not for others. Cranberry juice isn't just a crank remedy, It's proven to work. Cranberry juice contains chemicals which inhibit the activity of E. coli - the bacteria most often responsible for cystitis. The chemicals - condensed tannins or proanthocyanidins - stop the bacteria sticking to mucosal surfaces lining the bladder and gut.

Alkalinising urine seems to be more effective in reducing symptoms, especially for women who are 'culture negative' - that is, no harmful bacteria can be detected in their urine.

This can be done by drinking treatments based on potassium or sodium citrate, which you can buy at the chemists. It's not clear how alkalinising the urine helps but it can quickly get rid of symptoms often without the need for antibiotics.

To maintain a healthy bladder and prevent a recurrence I take a cranberry supplement daily and touch wood..........it works.

Also known as honeymoon disease, anyone with cystitis should 'abstain' until it's cleared.

Hope this helps.
