Eye problem - some advice please.

I will get this checked if I have to (if it lasts that is) but today is a no no as I have to stay in all day tp wait for someone.

Basically, yesterday and today, my left eye, temple side has felt sore and tender, like somebody has hit me, though no-one has. It hurts when I touch the area and my vision can get slightly blurry - awkward as this is the only eye I can see with.

Any suggestions as to what this might be and any over the counter help?

Hi postdog...you need to make an appointment to be seen by your GP urgently this morning, as a condition called temporal arteritis needs to be excluded.
Any disturbance in vision needs to be taken seriously.
Your GP will likely refer you as an emergency to your nearest hospital for tests.

Ta for the answer. No headaches as such (or other symptoms) yet but I plan to see the doctor anyway - just can't do it today.

Well, I can only urge you strongly to take my advice...vision, especially in your case, is important...more important than whatever it is you are staying in for.

At very least phone your surgery this morning and discuss your symptoms with your own GP, or duty GP...especially the blurring of vision, and scalp tenderness.

Do not know your age, but slaney is "spot on". Bllod tests and perhaps biopsy may be needed, but good advice from slaney as you may need steroids to relieve the situation. Other condotions do come to mind, but temporal arteritis needs to be excluded.

Good advice from slaney.

However, if your optician is nearer & more convenient for you, 'praps you could pop in & see them today, whilst waiting for an appointment with your gp.

Eye tests can show up a number of things (if anything is wrong), as I've recently found out for myself.

Good luck Postdog.
