My heart consultant explained to me that as ferritin levels go down which I experience for various reasons, that atrial fibrillation will be noticeably worse because of not enough oxygen getting to the heart. A doctor I saw at surgery recently disagreed and said ferritin levels have nothing to do with it! I know who I'd rather believe but does anyone know for sure that ferritin affects A Fib? I can't seem to find a written article that says for sure. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Yes...... low ferritin levels do have an effect on the ECG, arrhythmias in particular.
I agree with your Cardiologist.

Thank you very much Sqad, I just wish the GP was as knowledgeable because he's adamant ferritin levels have nothing to do with AF and it becoming worse on low ferritin levels. I categorically know it does after years of suffering both and when ferritin comes up to a proper level my AF calms right down. I still can't believe that some doctors really don't listen to their patients especially this one as he was very curt with me and shouted me down when I told him what the consultant said. Thank you again for your help.
LOL...OK susann.
