Hi,

Just been to see a new dentist & she tells me I need a crown. I'm reluctant to as the one I already have caused problems where the root needed to be capped . As it meant going thru' the roof of my mouth it was an op at the hospital, & was extremely painful. I tried explaining it to the [Polish] dentist but she didn't understand what I'd had done, & I can't remember what the op was called - was a long time ago - think it began with an "A".

Does anyone know, & should I be concerned the dentist doesn't know ?!

Possibly, the beginning & end of the word look right but thought it was one I could pronounce ! LOL

Dentist didn't have a clue though, should I be concerned ?
I would go to another dentist for a second opinion and at least with someone you can comunicate properly with. Assuming you are paying for this, there must be lot's options.
I agree with previous posters: either Apicectomy or Apical Surgery.

The former is simply the removal of the root tip, whilst the latter is any form of surgery to the root tip.
