I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa and have a deep seated looking abscess with no head come up yet and a couple of smaller ones looking like they may be forming. A pain as they've not been as bad lately.

I have found a bit of prescription Fucidin Cream back from July last year, it says expiry date is 02/2018 but it's not clear whether that dependant on whether or not it's opened or not (it was opened back when I got it).

Does anyone know if it's still ok to use?

I have this for my daughters intermittent impetigo and we use the cream as and when needed . Sometimes months after it is opened.

Imdon't know if it actually works this long after opening but it doesn't do any harm.... And might still work.

So in answer, use it anyway and see if it helps.

Hi, thanks for that. Much easier to use while at work too without stinking of antiseptic cream too! Not really polite conversation if someone asks why I smell of Germolene or the like, given it's a breast abscess, especially as I sit with mostly men.
I would have a word with your local pharmacy. If you have kept the cream in a cool place it should be okay, but it is always best to check make sure. If it is not okay, I am sure that your G.P could prscribe some more. We have a system near where we live whereby the local chemist registers you for minor ailments and whate is prescribed by the pharmacy saves unwanted Doctor's appointments.

Oh, haha, wrong thread, sorry, been glued to the French Open final!

I hadn't thought of the minor ailments scheme, that is a good idea, thanks for that.

I need to speak to my GP about a prescription issue so if I can get hold of them tomorrow I'll mention it, will see how it's doing in the morning
