I have heard there has been a coughing infection going around. The wife started hers two weeks ago and mine started about four days ago and I think this is the worst I've had.If I get to sleep it's not long before I am woken with a tickle in my throat and can't stop coughing if I can get the catarrh up its thick green (sorry) but I have tried sleeping with higher pillows my head over a bowl of steam and eucalyptus with a towel over my head. Dozens of extra strong Halls mentholyptus and still it won't shift, any ideas anyone

Morning Tilly, slept near enough upright in bed last night for about 4hours then spent a bit of time coughing and clearing my chest, then a another 2hrs on my reclining chair half asleep but this morning it seems to be really loose so am keeping my fingers crossed.Thinking back we had a quiet week before this and the only place we visited was the supermarket and wouldn't be surprised if we caught this from a trolley handle there must be loads of people touch these handles and passing on germs, can't see the supermarkets cleaning them.Years ago we didn't have them and mum use to visit the local shop daily with her own bags makes you wonder doesn't it.
glad you are feeling a wee tad better...I take antiseptic wipes in my bag for wiping trolley handles....loo flushes too !!
door handles are a breeding ground also

I had a virus at the beginning of April, got better from that, but right at the end of it, I started to cough. It wasn't horrendous, but it felt like a constant little tickle in my throat. Going in and out of rooms or areas with different temperatures used to set it off. also kept feeling that I had some phlegm constantly stuck in my throat. Such a nuisance. Decided to take some ibuprofen to calm it all down, which seemed to work. Didn't take any cough mixture as I did this when I had a similar cough in September 2014 - that cough took three months to go and I took so much cough linctus I ended up having to take a day off work because it had given me a bad case of the number twos. The cough seems to have sort of gone now, so I'm crossing fingers. Commiserations to you and your wife, fishing81, hope you both get better soon.
Morning, Fishing. I hope you are feeling a little better today. Perhaps sitting in the garden in the fresh air will help you breathe a bit more comfortably.

Keep spitting it out! (Into a tissue, off course.) :-)
I had it as well, ended up going to the doctor. Was given antibiotics and had an X-ray. It has eventually gone, but it took about three weeks.

Hope you both get better soon.
Same here, Marval. A really nasty bug.
It is Tilly, it really makes you feel low and exhausted.

Thanks all, have gone back to the old method of gargling with warm salty water as with all the coughing have ended up with a sore throat
I had it too about 4 weeks ago. Never experienced a virus like it before. Doctor told me it was Bronchitis and anti biotics wouldn't touch it. Mine lasted about 2 weeks. It left me very low. Feeling better now though. Hope it leaves you soon too.
