Had a molar removed on Friday, took 3/4 hr,due to having to drill and split root
This morning noticed a discoloured pea sized lump behind ear ,slightly tender.
Will this clear up,or will another 15 mile trip be necessary.

Thanks in anticipation

You don't say whether it is an upper or lower molar, but if you say that the lump is behind the ear, then it has nothing to do with your dental problems.

Dental infection can spread to the neck nodes, but usually stop at least 2 inches below the ear, so a swelling behind the ear is not usually dental in origin.

But......anything can happen in the human body, my advice is to wait for at least 48 hours ans see what happens.

J2PUR ( or something) is a dentist and his opinion will be valuable.

Thanks sqad
the molar in question is upper right.there was an abscess which exited through the roof of mouth.funny enough the tooth did not hurt even when tapped by dentist.

Lucky you!!!

Last time I had an abscessed molar tapped by my dentist, part of my mind idly wondered how expensive it was going to be to replace the surgery ceiling, since it had obviously just collapsed on my face! The rest of my mind was busy wondering if my scream was going to rupture my vocal chords or not!
ponkle thanks......that really hasn't changed my opinion re.14.08.........however, I cannot think of another reason for the "lump" at the moment.
