I have developed a lump/nodule at the base of my first finger, left hand.

It doesn't hurt when I move my fingers but if I press on it or catch it, when holding something, the pain is excruciating.

It seems to be getting bigger.

Does it need treatment of some kind?

It's ok, Sandy. I have just googled it and read the relevant information. I should have done that first. :-)
Almost certainly Heberden's Nodes..........Google it.

Associated with osteoarthritis.

Leave it alone.
I have that too,I am waiting to see a specialist to see what they are going to do,mine as also brought my finger down from straight, had it years but a couple of weeks ago i got pain with it too, doctor said I had duypruyens or something similar to that, next step if its not treated, trigger finger
Ah! if it is on the palm side of your finger then razza is correct, if it is not I am correct.....;-)
