Has anyone got one of these? I understand the copper has 'magnets' which help with the pain of wrist arthritis. There seems to be so many different ones, of all prices. Can anyone recommend one? Has it worked for you? and where I can buy it.
Many thanks.

I have arthritis in both thumb joints and wrists. I bought a copper bracelet with magnets, one for each wrist at a cost of £12.00 each. Waste of money. Made no difference whatsoever.
Tests have shown they are no more effective than a placebo.
Keep your money.
I had one for wrist arthritis and it made no difference at all but some swear by them. There are copper ones and also magnetic. It was probably utter rubbish but I remember a thread on here a few years back that claimed some people thought these bracelets (the magnetic ones I think) caused cancer :-(
I'm with the other ABers - tried both copper and magnetic, of no use at all.

They may work if you BELIEVE they WILL work (placebo effect can be powerful in some people)
These come under the heading of 'mumbo jumbo'. Spend your money on something more worthwhile.
Thanks all, that's saved me some cash, too. Ah, well, back to the injections :(

Thank you everyone. I will not waste my money.

Jourdain2 - what injections? my doctor hasn't mentioned any for me.
Just anti-inflammatory tablets and some gel.
The Cortisone injection goes in between the bones that are affected by the arthritis. No easy way to describe it I'm afraid. I've had them in my elbows, shoulders and knee. Extremely painfull would be putting it mildly.
The word arthritis describes pain and inflamation.
When you have the cortisone injections the pain disappears .. the injections hurt more than the arthritis and take your mind off it for some time.
In my case the temporary relief was something to languish in. But I'm afraid the pain returned on each and every occasion.
The only thing that took the knawing pain away was joint replacement.
I had copper insoles which I bought for my arthritis in knees. What a waste of money!
I have a copper bracelet and I thought it worked for a while, but when arthritis flares up nothing seems to work. I tried Rose Hip tablets too but nothing really relieved the pain except Ibruprofen, and my GP wouldn't prescribe that to me, said it caused stomach bleeding. So I took Paracetamol and eventually had a hip replacement.
Wrist sweat bands might ease the pain? They can be heated up on rads or nuked.
lidlicker - I managed to break an obscure bone in my wrist just before last Christmas. Long story, this Summer another X-ray (following a lot of pain) revealed that it had healed but that considerable arthritis had set in. This was aggravated by accompanying inflammation.

I should say that I have had 2 hip replacements and have arthritis in most of my spine, so I'm fairly bomb-proof by now. I went to see my new (UK) G.P. because of pain - I was living in France before - and she referred me to a specialist who injected anti-inflammatories into the wrist joint a few weeks ago. It wasn't as painful as all that and he numbed the site beforehand so don't be put off.

It was fairly sore for a few days afterwards, now it's fine unless under stress. I will have a follow-up assessment in 2 months. Apparantly some people don't need any more treatment, some need further injections and a very few need further, possibly surgical, interventions.

I certainly won't fear or hesitate to have any more injections if necessary.

Hope this helps :)
